EVENTS: We often hear the lament that there is nothing to do around here.
In the summer months, especially, that is simply not true.
This weekend, of course, is the Festa Italiana in Bradford along with the Mount Jewett Swedish Festival, both of which have become reunion weekends for groups returning to attend.
Along with that, the USDA Forest Service is holding a birthday party at 10 a.m. today at Kinzua Beach picnic area for Smokey Bear. There will be activities for children, along with cake and a chance to sing Happy Birthday to the world’s best known forest fire warden.
Today is the Summer Wine Walk in downtown Bradford, too. The event starts at 4 p.m. and includes lots of businesses on Main Street.
At 11 a.m. today, Smethport is holding the annual Ag Day Tractor Parade. The parade forms at Isadore Farm and proceeds down Main Street to the fairgrounds in East Smethport. Gussy up your tractor and join the fun.
Kids Fun Day 2019 will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. today at the North Kendall Park located next to Hull Electric in Bradford. Kids Fun Day is free and open to the public.
At Sinnemahoning State Park, pontoon boat tours are available from 10:30 to 11:45 a.m. and noon to 1:15 p.m. Sunday. It is a relaxing and informative one-hour tour of the Stevenson Reservoir. Reservations are recommended.
North of here, the Taste of Ellicottville is set for today and Sunday, from noon to 4 p.m. each day.
In Olean, N.Y., Shakespeare in the Park is set for 6 p.m. today at Oak Hill Park on Washington Street. Olean’s Theatre Workshop will perform “Hamlet.”
In Salamanca, N.Y., the Ray Evans Seneca Theater will hold a performance of “Chicago” at 6:30 p.m. today and at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
The Griffis Sculpture Park in East Otto, N.Y., is holding its 2019 annual summer festival Sunday from noon to 7 p.m. Music, performances, art, vendors and food will all be available through the day.
