LEWIS RUN — Charges are pending against a Shinglehouse man who is accused in a one-vehicle accident Friday night.
No one was injured in the crash, according to Lewis Run-based state police.
According to police, at 10:59 p.m. Friday, police responded to a crash at the intersection of McCrea Brook Road and Route 446 in Eldred Township. They determined through the investigation that a pick-up truck driven by Joshua Blanchard of Shinglehouse — which had one passenger — was traveling west on McCrea Brook at a high rate of speed and failed to stop at the intersection with Route 446, instead traveling across Route 446 and off the road.
The truck struck railroad tracks on the west side of Route 446 and became airborne before coming to rest facing northwest, police said.
Police did not say what charges may be filed, but they indicated they believe Blanchard was driving under the influence of drugs and tried to flee the scene before police arrived. He was unable to flee, as the truck was stuck.
According to police, charges are pending the results of a drug test.
Assisting on scene were the Otto-Eldred and Smethport police departments, the Eldred Volunteer Fire Department and EmergyCare EMS.
