SMETHPORT — A Port Allegany woman was sentenced Thursday in McKean County Court to three to seven years in state prison on charges that stemmed from manufacturing methamphetamine in her home.
Patricia Larson, 32, of 195 Lower Portage Road, had pleaded guilty in June to charges of manufacturing methamphetamine and delivery of Subutex, all felonies, and was arrested on July 19, 2018. Another defendant in the case, Rory D. Ford, was also scheduled for sentencing but had his case continued.
In her comments to McKean County President Judge John Pavlock, Larson offered an apology.
“I want to apologize for my actions … and I’m ready to move forward with my life,” Larson told the judge.
In response, Pavlock said the facts of the case are “very scary and very serious” when you look at her history.
“I don’t enjoy imposing this sentence, but both parties (district attorney and defense attorney) agree you should have an opportunity for boot camp,” Pavlock told Larson. “I hope this sentence turns you in a different direction.”
With that, Pavlock handed down the sentence for state prison, with credit for 262 days served. Larson will be boot camp eligible after serving a minimum of two years of the sentence.
Also in court, Chaz E. Zawatski, 28, of Bradford, was sentenced to serve four days to 16 months in jail on charges of retail theft. Zawatski pleaded guilty to a charge of retail theft for stealing six televisions valued at $948 on March 18 from Walmart in Bradford. In addition to the sentence, which he is to begin serving Aug. 9, Zawatski was ordered to pay restitution to Walmart, stay away from the store and to consume no alcohol, among other conditions.
Daniel L. Jones, 27, of Smethport, was sentenced to 12 months of probation for damaging a motorcycle that didn’t belong to him. He was credited for 16 days of time served, paid restitution of $700 for the damages, is to have no contact with the victim and must do 50 hours of community service. Pavlock said supervision can be terminated for Jones after eight months if all conditions are met.
Timothy M. Koza, 50, of Kane, was sentenced to six months probation on charges of driving under the influence. He was also sentenced to pay fines up to $300, ordered to serve seven hours of picking up highway litter and to serve 60 hours of community service.
Logan M. McGill, 27, of Kane, was sentenced to 30 days in county jail, with credit for one day served, and 90 days of house arrest, for driving under the influence of a controlled substance. He was also sentenced to 24 months concurrent probation for charges of manufacturing, delivery or possession with intent to manufacture or deliver drugs. In addition, he was sentenced to seven hours of picking up highway litter, 100 hours of community service, loss of his driver’s license and fines that include $1,500 for DUI, among other conditions and fines.
Leonard K. Winslow, 29, of Bradford, was sentenced to 12 months probation for charges of simple assault. He was also ordered to have an updated mental health evaluation, to consume no alcohol or be in a place that sells alcohol, among other conditions. In addition, he was ordered to serve 40 hours of community service, and as the incident was a crime of domestic violence, he cannot possess firearms, in accordance with conditions set by the court.
Richard D. Kline, 39, of Portville, N.Y., was sentenced to 12 months probation for possession of a small amount of marijuana for personal use, possession of drug paraphernalia and a summary charge. He was also ordered to consume no alcohol, among other related conditions; pay a $500 fine; and perform 40 hours of community service. His supervision can be discontinued after eight months, if he meets all of the conditions of probation.
Jared D. Brown, 39, of Kane was sentenced to 12 months probation for use of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a small amount of marijuana. He was also fined $100, and sentenced to consume no alcohol, and related conditions, and to perform 25 hours of community service. Supervision can be discontinued after six months if he meets the sentencing conditions.
Also during morning sentences, John D. Kirkman, 56, of Bradford, was sentenced to six months to 12 months in jail for driving under the influence and summary charges; Andrew W. Petrov, 45, of Bradford, was sentenced to nine months to five years in jail for driving under the influence; Ashley M. Martin, 35, of Bradford, was sentenced to five years of intermediate punishment, for driving under the influence and a summary charge; Jason M. Waid, 36, of Rixford, was sentenced to six months probation for driving under the influence and summaries; and Joseph S. Couch, 38, of Kane, was sentenced to six months of intermediate punishment for driving under the influence and possession of a small amount of marijuana.
