A Bradford woman has been charged for allegedly driving through an event barricade Saturday, striking a person and leaving the scene, all while texting when driving.
Rachelle Lynn Buterbaugh, 25, of 165 South Ave., is charged with accidents involving injury, a first-degree misdemeanor; reckless driving and driving without insurance, summary offenses.
According to court records, at 3:40 p.m. Saturday, Buterbaugh was driving south on East Main Street toward Kendall Avenue. While driving and looking at her cellphone, she hit a barricade and a person at the intersection of East Main Street and Kendall Avenue, where the road was closed due to the Kids and Cancer Benefit. After the crash, she drove away from the scene without rendering aid or providing information, the records allege.
She was driving a rental car without insurance, the court records allege.
She was arraigned before District Judge Rich Luther and released on unsecured bail.
She is scheduled to appear in Central Court on Thursday.
