The Bradford City Water Authority hopes to bid out work this fall for the installation of a redundant transmission main.
The authority heard an update about the project during Wednesday’s board meeting, it was reported to The Era following the meeting. The estimated timeframe for the bid is late September/early October, according to Executive Director Steve Disney.
The authority is currently involved in preparing documents and making telephone conference calls for the loan settlement process. PENNVEST awarded a $11.5 million low-interest loan to the authority at the agency’s July 17 meeting.
Also at the water authority’s Wednesday meeting, the group heard an update from Ken Kane, field superintendent of Generations Forestry, on the watershed time inventory project.
Kane expects the data from the field inventory of the West Branch property to be complete by late August, and work to begin the field inventory in the Marilla/Gilbert watershed areas is to begin in mid-August.
The authority heard updates about other projects, too.
Authority crews have finished pre-work that needed to be done before work on the replacement of the Forman Street bridge could begin. Once the bridge has been replaced, the authority will need to reconnect an 8-inch water main that will be installed on the north side of the new bridge superstructure. The authority plans to bid the remaining work in August.
Regarding a pedestrian bridge project at the Gilbert Dam spillway, Disney reported that installation of the bridge abutments is complete and they received lumber for the east side access ramp. The bridge, which is being fabricated off site, is scheduled to be shipped around Aug. 26.
Meanwhile, construction is scheduled to begin Aug. 15 to relocate a water main by the Toad Hollow Bridge, located on South Avenue in Bradford Township. The authority has to move the 8-inch water main because the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation wants to replace the bridge.
