Smethport woman injured in Saturday crash
LEWIS RUN — A Smethport woman suffered serious injuries in a one-vehicle crash that happened Saturday on Champlin Hill Road in Keating Township.
According to Lewis Run-based state police, at 2:13 a.m. Saturday on the south side of Champlin Hill Road, they encountered a car rolled onto its roof with the driver, Shalene J. Wymer, 30, of Smethport, trapped inside.
Police determined that the car had been traveling west on Champlin Hill Road, when it crossed into the eastbound lane, left the road, struck a ditch, became airborne, rotated about 180 degrees and came to rest on its roof about 10 yards off the south side of the road facing south.
Wymer was extricated from the car by state troopers and fire department personnel from Port Allegany and Smethport. She was transported to Olean (N.Y.) General Hospital by the Port Allegany Ambulance Service for treatment of serious injuries, police said.
Police reported Wymer would be cited for failing to drive in roadways laned for traffic.
The Eldred Fire Department also assisted on scene.
No injuries in Keating Twp. crash Tuesday
LEWIS RUN — A man operating an SUV was not injured after striking a deer Tuesday morning.
According to Lewis Run-based state police, 43-year-old Matthew Carinci, of Port Allegany, was operating the SUV on State Route 46 in the northbound lane when a deer entered the roadway. The SUV struck the deer and travelled 150 feet before coming to a final rest on the side of the northbound lane.
Carinci was uninjured; his car received disabling damage from the incident.
None injured in two-vehicle crash
EMPORIUM — No injuries were reported after a two-vehicle crash in Shippen Twp.
According to Emporium-based state police, 20-year-old Brandon McCaslin, of Smethport, was operating a car occupied by 20-year-old Tanner Thomas, of Turtlepoint; 18-year-old Ty Bauer, of Emporium; and a 16-year-old male when it lost control handling a right-hand curve on Bryan Hill Road and struck the driver’s side panel and rear tire of a pickup truck operated by 46-year-old Paul Haviland, of Emporium.
No injuries were suffered in the incident. McCaslin faces charges for driving at an unsafe speed.
