Under the beautiful and spacious skies of Bradford Saturday will be an event honoring America, alongside one marking a famous American product.
The “Star Spangled Celebration” will be held Saturday at Marilyn Horne Hall, the site of the inaugural Bradford Zippo Lighter Club swap meet, as well.
“This weekend’s going to be a lot of fun,” said Matthew Hileman, manager of the Marilyn Horne Museum and Exhibit Center. “We’ve partnered with Ron Orris and the Bradford Zippo Lighter Club to add food and entertainment for visitors to the swap meet on Saturday.”
The swap meet will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Marilyn Horne Museum Event room.
And at the museum, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., fresh-grilled hot dog combos and soft pretzels will be sold.
“Then, beginning at noon, the American Caroling Company from Buffalo will perform patriotic songs in the main lobby at Marilyn Horne Hall,” Hileman said. “They’ll be singing harmonized versions of the Star Spangled Banner, Yankee Doodle, America the Beautiful and other favorite songs that celebrate America.
“The singers will do three 20-minute sets between noon and 1:30 p.m.,” he explained.
The caroling company is back by popular demand, as they performed at the Dickens Christmas event held in December at the museum.
“I’m really excited to be bringing back the American Caroling Company. They have beautiful voices and they were a huge hit at our Dickens Christmas event last December,” Hileman said. “On Saturday they will be decked out in patriotic costumes.”
And expect to see them again, too.
“I have already contracted them again for this coming Christmas,” Hileman confirmed.
The performance on Saturday is possible through the generosity of the Blaisdell Foundation, he added, saying the foundation “has generously underwritten the cost of the performers. The Foundation has been wonderful supporters of the museum and all that we do here and I’m so grateful to have them as a partner.”
