GALETON — Officials with the 35th Annual Goodyear Hose Company’s Red Suspender Weekend, scheduled to be held Friday through Saturday, encourage residents from the area to visit Galeton this July 4th weekend. Activities will include what is considered one of the best fireworks display Saturday night.
Officials with the Galeton Area Chamber of Commerce also invite the public to participate in the 2019 Independence Day Parade at 11 a.m. Saturday in Galeton. Line-up will take place from 9 to 10:15 a.m. in the parking lot of the Galeton Area School District.
The parade route exits left from the school grounds onto Bridge Street, right onto Germania Street, right on Union Street and finally turns right on West Street dispersing at West and Main streets. The judges’ and announcers’ demonstration area will be located at the former Tutor’s Restaurant on Germania Street.
By registering, participants will receive an announcement regarding their entry at the judges’ demonstration area, as well as be eligible for judged trophy consideration. Parade trophies by category will be awarded at 1 p.m. at the park pavilion. In addition, performances by Downbeat Percussion and the Caledonian Highlanders Pipe Band will be held at the same time.
