Nikky’s Dance Studio Competition Team had an impressive week dancing at NexStar Nationals.

With over 1,600 dances, the team’s 16 entries came home with all Platinum trophies and all placed in the top 20 overalls for their dances.

“Johnny Vs. The Devil” and “Mermaids” dancers came home National Champions for their group dances, and the “No Excuses” team members also came home National Champions for their trio. Performers in five dances received an invitation to re-compete at the end of the week in the coveted “Big Show,” where the “best of the best” compete. The “Johnny Vs. The Devil” team went on to be named Big Show Champions.

Nikky, the Smethport studio owner/teacher, received a National Choreography award for the dance “Captain Jack,” which placed second overall. The full team dance, “Jumanji,” received a second place overall along with other group dances from the studio. Madelyn Kinney brought home a high score of third place overall for her solo.
