Freedom isn’t the only thing that will ring during Sunday’s fourth annual Patriotic and Popular Music Concert at Crook Farm.
Melodical and vibrant music will be ringing out from the instruments of the Twin Tiers Community Band.
Sally Costik, curator of the Bradford Landmark Society, which sponsors the event, said last year’s event had a good turnout considering the intense heat.
“It was good, but it was hot,” she said. “I hope we won’t have that problem this year.”
The forecast calls for 81 degrees and 58 percent humidity, so it doesn’t look like her wish will come true.
Speaking of the event, Costik said people seem to enjoy it.
“It’s a popular thing,” she said. “It’s not very long, but they get a good crowd.”
She added there will be tents for the musicians and for those who attend.
“We’re selling ice cream, water and this year we’re doing Tubbers,” Costik said, explaining that Tubbers are essentially old fashioned ice cream with chocolate and nuts. “They were ‘invented’ in 1917 as the story goes, a kid nicknamed Tubber and a couple of his friends were at an ice cream parlor when he asked them to make this special ice cream sundae but it was a little different because it had the ice cream, chocolate, whipped cream and Spanish peanuts.”
Costik said the creation became popular with the local ice cream parlors, who would eventually advertise them and call them Tubbers –– named after the boy.
The event starts at 2 p.m. Admission is free.
For sale will be hot dogs for $1 each, water for $1 per bottle, ice cream for $1 each and Tubbers $2 each.
