SALAMANCA, N.Y. — Allegany State Park announced two Outdoor Adventure Series events set to take place this month.
One program will instruct participants in how to set up a hammock, which can be used for relaxing or even for camping in place of a tent. The second program will feature fly fishing techniques by a New York state-licensed fishing guide; tips will include the basics of fly fishing, techniques, what to fish for, and what to use.
Hammocking will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. July 10 in the Summit Warming Hut. Park naturalist Haley Palmateer will show how to set up and use a hammock in ways that leave minimal trace/impact while camping. Participants who own hammocks are invited to bring them to “hang” out after the demonstration.
The fly fishing demonstration will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. July 24 at the Quaker Bathhouse. Fly fishing guide Nicholas Sagnibene of Adventure Bound in Ellicottville will discuss and demonstrate fly fishing. Demo equipment will be provided.
Each program will last approximately 1.5 hours. Registration is not required.
