SMETHPORT — A Bradford man accused of assault and weapons charges entered a guilty plea Thursday in McKean County Court.
Brian Wedge, 34, of Bradford, pleaded guilty to charges of simple assault and possessing an offensive weapon. According to Assistant District Attorney Jerry Grill, on April 12, Wedge put two people in fear of bodily injury, saying, “If you want to go, we’ll go”; also, he possessed two prohibited knives: one that opened with a switch button and one that opened with a push button.
Wedge will be sentenced Aug. 15.
Also in court, Bradford residents John D. Lichtenberger, 50, and Elizabeth A. Tucker, 38, were each sentenced to two years of probation for charges of welfare fraud. They pleaded guilty May 16 to allegations that Tucker, who resided with Lichtenberger, applied for SNAP benefits and underreported the household income, and the household was overpaid $3,310 in benefits. Lichtenberger was aware of Tucker’s actions.
Shawn M. Cabisca, 28, of Smethport, pleaded guilty to charges of simple assault in two cases. Assistant District Attorney Bridget Murphy said that on April 16, Cabisca hurt a woman during a mutual fight by striking and kicking her face and body; then, on May 19, he knocked a woman to the ground, causing lacerations on her right knee and elbow, and hit her with a rock. He will be sentenced Aug. 15.
Shawn A. King, 28, of Cyclone, pleaded guilty to charges of possession of 1.74 grams of cocaine and possession of drug paraphernalia. He will be sentenced Aug. 15.
Accepted into the Rehabilitative Disposition program were Austin L. Kauhl, 22, of Olean, N.Y., for DUI-controlled substance and recklessly endangering another person; Joshua T. Buchholz, 22, of Smethport, for DUI-alcohol and controlled substance; Marissa L. McKinney, 19, of Kane, for DUI-controlled substance; Donald S. Gleason, 64, of Bradford, and Dustin J. Moran, 29, of James City, both for DUI-alcohol; and Gary L. Anderson, 51, of Kane, and Frank E. Roller, 54, of Port Allegany, both for DUI-general impairment.
