ERIE — The Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest Pennsylvania invites people who are 60 years of age or older and meet certain income requirements to register to receive a free senior food box.
The Second Harvest Senior Box Program provides free nutritious food once a month to supplement a recipient’s current grocery needs.
To register for the Senior Box Program, contact Sheilah Dauson at the Second Harvest Food Bank at 814-459-3663 x 111.
The monthly senior food boxes contain:
• 4 cans of vegetables
• 2 cans of fruit
• 1 peanut butter or beans
• 2 cereal or 1 bag of oats
• 2 bottles of juice
• 2 pounds of pasta or rice
• 1 meat or fish
• 1 block of cheese
• 2 instant or evaporated milk (6-times a year)
To be eligible, participants must be Pennsylvania residents, 60 years of age or older and have a gross household monthly income at or below the following: one person, $1,354; two people, $1,832; and three people, $2,311. For each additional person, add $479.
