A Bradford man is in McKean County Jail after allegedly threatening to shoot someone during an argument.
Steven C. Phillips, 63, of 321 W. Washington St., was arraigned early Tuesday morning on charges of terroristic threats, a first-degree misdemeanor; simple assault and recklessly endangering another person, second-degree misdemeanors.
According to the criminal complaint, at 11:37 p.m. Monday, police were called to Phillips home for a report of a domestic dispute involving a firearm. The victim told police that Phillips pointed a shotgun at a female and told her he would “splatter your guts everywhere.”
Officers made contact with Phillips inside the home, “and he was found to be non-compliant” and resisted “lawful orders” from police, the complaint stated. He had the odor of alcohol on his breath, too, the complaint alleged.
Phillips told police the alleged victim threatened to use pepper spray against him, so he got out the older wooden stock pump shotgun and it pointed it at her; however, the female explained to police she threatened to use pepper spray because she was afraid for her safety and the safety of her child in the next room, court records stated. She told police he has a history of violence.
Phillips is incarcerated in lieu of $25,000 bail, and he is scheduled to appear in Central Court on July 11.
