CLEARFIELD — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation District 2 is continuing its “Paint the Plow” program in 2019.
The success of the program is affording PennDOT the opportunity to continue the initiative to high schools and career technical schools in each of the district’s nine counties: Cameron, Centre, Clearfield, Clinton, Elk, Juniata, McKean, Mifflin, and Potter.
PennDOT District 2 has sent application information to all high schools in each county. The schools are asked to return their applications by June 30.
“This will be our fourth year of competition and we are always impressed by the student artwork as well as the enthusiasm from the students, schools, and communities across our nine counties,” said Karen Michael, district executive for PennDOT District 2.
Once the plow blades are delivered to the schools, students will paint the plows with a winter safety theme. This year the theme “Don’t Rush in Ice and Slush” will be used for all plows. Entries will be judged through a voting process with a panel of judges.
There will also be a “Fan Favorite” which will be determined through a social media campaign that is open to the public.
When the contest is over each blade will be mounted to a plow truck serving the area of the respective school district.
