RIDGWAY — A Mayport woman was injured Tuesday night when migrating natural gas caused an explosion in her Redbank Township, Clarion County, residence.
Donna Kemmer, 68, was transported to a medical facility for treatment of her injuries, state police fire marshal Trooper Russell Stewart reported on Thursday. He did not say how severe her injuries are.
The home, a garage and a greenhouse were destroyed, he reported.
According to Stewart, at 8 p.m. Tuesday, at 2358 Pine Run Road, Redbank Township, Kemmer was in bed, “when she heard a loud explosion and found herself buried under the residential structure wall.” She freed herself and drove to a neighbor for help.
When Stewart and the Hawthorn Fire Department investigated the fire, it was found the explosion happened in the basement and was caused by migrating natural gas. The fire was ruled accidental in nature.
Damage is estimated between $1.5 million and $2 million, Stewart stated.
