DUBOIS — Reilly Raught’s five-RBI performance lifted the Otto-Eldred softball team past Allegheny-Clarion Valley 7-4 Wednesday night.
The Lady Terrors (18-4) initially fell behind 1-0 after the top of the first, before Raught knocked a two-RBI single to give O-E its first lead, 2-1.
A-C Valley (12-5) regained a 3-2 advantage through the top of the fourth, before Raught struck again, this time with a three-RBI single to put the Lady Terrors up for good, 5-3.
The Lady Falcons drew to within one, 5-4, in the sixth inning, but a two-RBI single by Kayley Heller in the bottom of the frame gave O-E its final lead, 7-4.
Raught’s five RBI came on a 2-for-3 day. Autumn Smith tripled for O-E, and Harley VanScoter added a 2-for-3 day with a pair of singles. Heller had the other two RBI for the Lady Terrors.
“Our girls at the plate have seen the ball well the last two or three games, and they’re hitting really well,” Otto-Eldred coach Roger Veilleux said. “Reilly had a big game, and had a couple of key hits when we needed them.”
Meanwhile, in the circle, Abby Wolfe turned in a complete game, and gave up the four runs on 10 hits. She fanned six batters and walked just one.
“Abby had a dominant performance today, and we played decent defense, too,” Veilleux noted. “We were able to hold them off for the win.”
Baylee Blauser took the loss in the circle for A-C Valley. She gave up seven runs on 11 hits, struck out five and walked seven.
Emily Wetzel turned in a 3-for-3 performance that included a double and a triple for the Lady Falcons, and Blauser added a 2-for-4 day that included a double.
With the win, Otto-Eldred advances into a play-in game against Clarion, who fell to DuBois Central Catholic 7-2 in the District 9 Class A championship, for a spot in the PIAA state playoffs.
That game will be held today at 2 p.m. at Heindl Field in DuBois.
