DUBOIS — The teams were warmed up, the rain has dissipated and it looked as if it was time for baseball.
The lights, however, had other ideas.
Doomed by a lightning strike that caused a power outage in the Coudersport-Moniteau Class AA title game, Tuesday evening’s Class A championship between Elk County Catholic and Otto-Eldred had to be postponed due to lack of lighting.
The game is now scheduled for the afternoon at 1 o’clock back at Showers Field.
Officials from District 9, DuBois and electricians tried in vain to get the lights working again, but the intense thunderstorms had done their damage.
Officials originally proposed moving the game to nearby Stern Family Field in DuBois, but that facility was already occupied for the evening.
About 45 minutes after the conclusion of the Coudy-Moniteau game, the decision was made to send the two teams home for the evening.
