EMPORIUM — It seems Cameron County voters have chosen Elk County District Attorney Shawn T. McMahon as their candidate for the judge of the Court of Common Pleas for the 59th District
The district includes both Cameron and Elk counties.
At Tuesday’s race, unofficial results indicate McMahon took more votes than his opponent — former Elk County District Attorney Bradley J. Kraus — to appear on both the Republican and Democratic ballots in the November election.
In Cameron County, McMahon grabbed 652 Republican votes, and Kraus got 191. On the Democratic side, McMahon received 342 votes, while Kraus received 79.
Elk County voters also granted McMahon both party nominations, according to unofficial results.
The Court of Common Pleas for Cameron and Elk counties is currently without a judge, as Judge Richard Masson retired as president judge at the end of 2018 and transitioned to senior judge status. Senior judges are currently performing courtroom duties, while Jefferson County President Judge John Foradora was appointed to complete administrative duties.
