Bradford Area Public Library is offering an adult art program this summer conducted by local artist Courtney Mealy.
Library officials said Mealy will provide the classes twice a month at the library. Workshops will meet from 5:30 to 6:30 pm on the second and fourth Mondays of the month. Participants must pre-register and prepay for the workshops, with all materials supplied. Space is limited to 12 participants and the fee for each class is $10. Those interested can register at the Circulation Desk.
The sessions will include the following activities.
• Decorated Flower Pot, June 10. Participants will create their own colorful, decorated flower pot by using a variety of techniques from decoupage, painting and collage.
• Whimsical Painting on Board, June 24. Participants will use acrylic paint, sharpies and vintage paper, and Mealy will lead participants to create their own whimsical painting with inspirational affirmations.
• DIY Journals, July 8. Participants will create their own journals suitable for taking notes, sketching, writing and much more. Each participant will be able to customize their journal and make at least two journals.
• Paper Flowers,, July 22. In this class, participants will create their own bouquet of paper flowers that will not wilt. Using a variety of techniques and supplies, Mealy will teach participants to make different paper flowers that will last a lifetime.
• Mini Watercolor and Ink Painting, Aug. 12. Using watercolor paints and ink, participants will create a mini landscape painting of the beautiful Pennsylvania region. Pen and ink will highlight the paintings.
• Hand Lettering, Aug. 26. Participants will create multiple name/sayings of various hand-lettering techniques and explore methods to create beautiful letters.
