LUDLOW — The Ludlow Memorial Day service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Monday in Gibbs Hill Cemetery hosted by James Uber Post 489.
Ludlow American Legion Commander Bill Blauser will give a welcome, and Jonathan Bires will oversee the raising of the flag. Ken Holmes and Dan Moore will lead the Pledge of Allegiance. Chaplain Don Poleto will share an invocation, followed by a performance of “The Star-Spangled Banner.”
U.S. Rep. Glenn Thompson, R-Pa., will be the Memorial Day speaker. His speech will be followed by a performance of “Battle Hymn of the Republic.”
Attendees will then hear a roll call of last year’s departed veterans: Ernest A. Anderson, Kurt J. Berger, John R. Blauser, Lynn Carson, Chauncey E. Hall, Burton E. Johnson, Ronald R. Robson, Edward J. Straneva, Ray L. Swedenhjelm and Eric C. Walters. The Sheffield/Clarendon VFW Honor Guard will offer a salute to the departed veterans.
A bugler will perform “Taps,” which will be followed by a performance of “God Bless America.” Poleto will give a benediction, and Blauser will provide closing statements.
After the ceremony, a luncheon will be held at the former Graybill Marine at 11114 Route 321, Kane.
In case of rain, services will be held at the former Graybill Marine.
