Galeton answered with two runs in the top of the sixth to take a 7-6 lead, and then OV tied it in the bottom of the sixth before West’s game-winner in the seventh.
“The team is finishing very well,” OV coach Tim Morey said. “Our young players are starting to figure things out, and they’re hitting and playing defense. Everything is starting to come together.”
Galeton picked up a 2-for-3 performance from Haylee Ludington and a 2-for-4 performance from Katelyn Pagano. Jessie Evans tripled for the Lady Tigers.
Oswayo Valley overcome a 4-2 deficit in the final frame with a three-run rally to top Galeton, 5-4 in the first game.
The Lady Tigers (11-8, 8-6) initially pounced out to a 3-2 lead after two innings and then added one more in the sixth to gain a 4-2 advantage.
But then OV (4-10, 4-8) rallied for the 5-4 win on a three-RBI double from Kelsey Turk.
Sophomore Macy West led the Lady Wave charge with a 3-for-4 performance that included a double. Karina West added a triple and a single, and Mandy Smith went 2-for-3.

Port Allegany 12, Smethport 9
PORT ALLEGANY — Smethport battled back from a 9-2 deficit with some strong offense, but too many walks of its own did them in.
Jenna Sprankle was the only Lady Gator with two hits in the game as Port A drew 15 walks to win for the second time in three games.
Marah Rush earned the win in the circle with five strikeouts, eight hits and three walks given up for Port Allegany (5-9, 5-7).
Baylea Strom and Lizzy Ruffner each had two hits for Smethport, while Sam Tanner (triple), Jasmine Willets (double) and Willow Lapp (double) each had extra-base hits.
“We out-hit them, but the (walks) have been our downfall all season,” Smethport coach Jon Peterson. “We have a freshman pitcher coming up and learning.”
Coryn McClain took the loss for the Lady Hubbers (0-16, 0-13).
Smethport will have a final try for its first win of the year in its regular season finale today against Northern Potter.
“Really proud of the girls this year,” Peterson said. “It’s easy to win and not easy to lose. We have good things coming up for Smethport softball; lots of freshman coming up.”
