Frances Sherman Auxiliary
Frances Sherman VFW Auxiliary met Wednesday evening in the VFW Post 212 club rooms for a potluck dinner, meeting and installation of the 2019-20 officers.
Memorial Day activities slated are:
• On Poppy Day, May 24, the group will visit veterans at nursing homes. Participants are to meet at the Vets Club at 10:30 a.m. to depart. Anybody who would like to join in these visits is welcome.
• Willowdale Cemetery Services will be at 2 p.m. May 26. Ceremony participants are asked to come at 1:30 p.m. to the Veterans Memorial dressed in their colors.
• On Memorial Day, May 27, the auxiliary will meet at the Vets Club at 9 a.m. to decorate a float for the parade. Colors of the day are red, white and blue. The float will travel from the Vets Club to lineup on Davis Street at 9:30 a.m.
Installing Officer Past President Debi Bigley installed the following 2019-20 officers: president, Amy Peterson; senior vice president, Brenda Bloomgren; junior vice president, Marilyn Thrush; treasurer, Linda McKnight; secretary, Valerie Meacham; chaplain, Pat Crooks; conductress, Linda Rimer; guard, Pat Layton; patriotic instructor, Kathy Beattie; three-year trustee, Katie Kloss; and historian, Marie Llewellyn.
Next meeting will be at 7 p.m. June 19.
