SMETHPORT — A Bradford woman pleaded guilty Thursday in McKean County Court for allegations she caused serious injuries to a 3-month-old infant.
Her codefendant in the case also appeared for a last day to plea conference, but he was granted a continuance.
Alana N. Dinch, 21, pleaded guilty to one charge of aggravated assault under circumstances manifesting extreme indifference to the value of human life, a first-degree felony.
Codefendant Jonathan J. Burke, 24, of Bradford, is now scheduled to appear in court on May 30. His attorney, Christopher Martini, said he received some discovery this week and has not had a chance to go through it with his client.
Dinch is represented by attorney Alan Conn.
In relating what allegations Dinch was pleading guilty to, District Attorney Stephanie Vettenburg-Shaffer said that between Dec. 5 and Dec. 19 in Bradford City, Dinch caused injuries to a 3-month-old infant that included a hemorrhage on the brain, a fractured skull and broken rib.
The baby had been shaken, squeezed and struck with a chair, Shaffer said.
Both Dinch and Burke are free, each having posted $50,000 bail.
