COUDERSPORT — A steady stream of runs and a big day from Rosalyn Page sent Coudersport to a decisive 11-1 five-inning victory over Northern Potter in Northern Allegheny League action Wednesday.
Page went 3-for-3 for the Lady Falcons (13-4, 9-2) with a single, double and triple, while Paiton Whipple added a 2-for-3 day and Emma Saulter a 2-for-2 day with one RBI.
Shaelynn Black led Coudy in RBI with three on a 1-for-3 day.
“Rosalyn really came on strong today, and she hit the ball hard,” Coudersport coach Trevor Saulter. “She was more patient at the plate, and it worked out well for her.”
Coudersport initially jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the first inning before blowing the game open with a four-run second frame.
Then, the Lady Falcons added one in the third, three in the fourth and one more in the fifth while holding Northern Potter (4-8, 4-7) to just one run to secure the 11-1 victory on Senior Day.
“We were pretty steady at the plate,” Saulter said. “The contributions came from all around today with our starters.”
In the circle, Black threw three hitless innings and fanned five batters while walking just two, and then Chelsey Streich finished the game and gave up one run on just four hits and one walk.
Alyssa Hoopes knocked in NoPo’s only RBI with a single. Her hit was one of four for the Lady Panthers.
Coudersport hosts Port Allegany for a Friday doubleheader, while Northern Potter hosts Smethport that day.
Cameron County 7, Oswayo Valley 4
EMPORIUM — Macy West hit a leadoff homer for Oswayo Valley, but playoff-bound Cameron County’s bats were too much in a Northern Allegheny League victory.
The Lady Red Raiders (10-8, 8-5) struck for three runs in the bottom half of the first — and despite OV rallying to tie the game in the fourth — Cameron Co. was able to pull away with four runs over the final three innings to win for the third time in four games.
A day after tossing 14 strikeouts, Laila Smith struck out 15 batters to limit Oswayo Valley’s offense.
“Laila really came through on the mound for us today throwing some heat but where her pitching really shined was the off speed,” Cameron County coach Jocelyn Wensel said. “She struck out several batters, one right after another, with her change up for strike three.”
Ashlea Burgett had two hits and three RBI for the Raiders, while teammates Kaitlyn Burgett and Alyvia McKimm each had two hits.
The two teams combined for eight errors and West had the only two extra-base hits in the game with a double and her solo homer.
Her sister, Karina West, took the loss in the circle allowing seven runs (three earned) while striking out six.
Oswayo Valley (2-10, 2-8) heads to Galeton for a doubleheader today.
Galeton 5, Port Allegany 3
GALETON — A three-run fifth inning and an all-around game from Regan Fuller lifted Galeton over Port Allegany, 5-3, in Wednesday.
Fuller pitched a complete game and allowed just three runs on seven hits and two walks, and fanned 10 batters, and then added a 2-for-3 day in the batter’s box with three RBI and a homerun.
Port A (5-9, 4-7) initially jumped out to a 3-1 lead through the top half of the fifth, but the Lady Tigers (11-6, 8-4) responded with three runs in the bottom of the fifth to gain a 4-3 advantage, and then tacked on an insurance run in the sixth.
Fuller’s offensive performance was complemented by RBI from Eva Olofson and Cara Parsell.
For the Lady Gators, Bree Garzel, Tori Tanner and Cailey Barnett each went 2-for-3. Garzell doubled twice and Tanner once, and Tanner plated the team’s lone RBI on the day.
Marah Rush pitched for Port A, and allowed five runs on six hits, but just one of the runs was earned. She fanned five and walked two.
Brookville 15, Bradford 0, 4 innings
BROOKVILLE — Brookville struck for 17 hits and in turn no-hit the Lady Owls to send Bradford to its sixth straight loss.
The Lady Raiders’ Carlie McManigle struck out six and allowed just a single walk in four innings of work in the circle.
She also had three hits and two RBI at the plate for Brookville, while teammates Julie MacWilliams (5 RBI), Aleah Ames (3 hits) and Megrah Sugan (2 doubles) also had strong offensive outings.
Emily Warner took the loss in the circle for Bradford.
