Bradford Ecumenical Home has a week’s worth of activities set to honor Bradford’s experienced citizens. “Live Soulfully” is this year’s theme. The nursing home has planned activities every day between May 12-18.
Kicking off the week Sunday — also Mother’s Day — were a 2 p.m. church service, followed at 3 p.m. by a “Mother’s day celebration with music by Jeanne Gross.” Residents were also invited to an afternoon of Bingo. Highlights on Monday included a trip for ice cream at the Custer City Drive-in at 1 p.m. and music of the ’50s and ’60s by Steve at 6 p.m. A trail stroll took place in the morning and bowling and nail spa visits were scheduled for the afternoon.
Today for “Dance Like a Chicken Day,” residents will be invited to a “Chicken Dance” at noon, then to enjoy margaritas and beach ball on the patio at 3 p.m. A morning of Rosary and Communion visits is set, along with a “Jackpot” activity scheduled in the afternoon.
Wednesday’s highlights are music by Don Graybill at 1:30 p.m. and a performance of “In Jest” by Nels Ross at 6:30 p.m. The Learn Love Laugh pre-K class will also visit Wednesday morning. In the afternoon, Ecumenical Home residents will enjoy a coffee klatch and nail spa visits.
The feature on Thursday will be a visit to the “As I Age Wall,” located this year by the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford’s McDowell Fieldhouse and Richard E. McDowell Trail, at 10:45 a.m.
All month, visitors to the wall will had the opportunity to finish the sentence “As I age…” and share their answers in chalk on the wall. The wall visit will be followed by a lunch outing.
Also on Thursday, at 2 p.m. Ecumenical Home residents will be able to watch the BEH staff Olympics, called “Who’s the Champion?!” Thursday afternoon and evening activities include “Stimulating the Senses,” a baseball toss game and chat & snack.
Friday’s highlights are a managers vs. staff Wiffle ball game at 10 a.m. and an ice cream sundae social on the patio at 3 p.m. Other Friday afternoon and evening activities will be bingo, “Imagination Vacation,” Crazy 8’s and chat & snack.
On Saturday, there will be cake-baking for the monthly birthday party at 1:30 p.m. Following the party there will be nail spa visits, afternoon devotions, card games and a chat & snack.
Mail call will take place every day Monday through Saturday, and new activities will be held every morning Monday through Friday.
