MOM: Are you trying to figure out what to get for Mother’s Day?
We found a list of inexpensive gifts on the website moneycrasher.com
Organize a recipe card binder or box. Consider gathering all of her favorite recipes, making copies and putting them in a decorative box or binder. Tabs and sheet protectors can be used to create sections. And maybe add a few new recipes that you think she’ll like.
Make her a gift basket instead of buying a prepackaged one. Buy an inexpensive basket at a craft store, and fill it with her favorite lotions, candles, candies and treats. A small, framed family photo would personalize it just for her.
Purchase a magazine subscription or books, or a gift certificate to a bookstore.
Create a memory journal. Ask each member of the family to write down their favorite silly, crazy, funny and wonderful family moments in a journal. This can be a gift that keeps on giving, as you can add more memories at each holiday or get-together.
Do some yard work, or house work for her. Wash her windows, mow the lawn, weed the flower bed, clean the gutters, hang her bird feeder. These will save her time, or money if she would normally pay someone to do the work for her.
Plan a picnic. If weather permits, Mother’s Day can be a great opportunity to get outside and enjoy Mother Nature. Pick up pastries, fruits, and deli items from your local grocer and pack a fun picnic lunch to enjoy in an open field or nearby park. Free from all the distractions of everyday life, you can spend quality time with your mom and show her how much you appreciate her company.
Go on a day trip. Whether it’s a trip within the county, or a trip to a nearby attraction like the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon or Letchworth State Park, Mom is sure to appreciate the time spent with you in the car as much as she does the trip itself. Make it extra special by stopping by some place she loves, like an ice cream shop.
