The Bradford Owls girls track and field team used contributions from a few of its upperclassmen on ‘Senior Night’ to roll to a dominant 101-35 victory over Elk County Catholic.
Bethany Bednez won the 3200 in 14:36 and was also part of the 3200 relay team that took first in 11:39. Fellow senior doubler Alexis Huber placed first in the pole vault (8-6) and joined her teammates in winning the 400 relay in 52.7.
Also doubling for the Lady Owls were Regan Johnson in the 100 (12.9) and the 200 (26.7); Abby Nuzzo in the triple jump (29-1) and the javelin (86-5) and a group of girls who were part of Bradford’s winning relay teams.
The Owls swept all three relay events with Alix Ordiway, Huber, Erica Marshall and Emily Bosworth in the 400, Marshall, Mikah Watkins, Hannah Lary and Bosworth in the 1600 and Bednez, Marissa Miller, Lary and Bosworth in the 3200 (11:39).
Bosworth tacked on an individual first-place finish in the 800 (2:25.7), Watkins took home first in the 400 (65.3) and Lary scooped up a win in the mile (5:33).
Meanwhile, Marshall ran a 51.1 time in the 300 hurdles for first.
“We had a good all-around day with a lot of good performances,” BHS girls track coach Larry Stillman said. “Elk Catholic competed hard and has some good jumpers.
“Regan, Erica, Emily and Hannah did what they have done all season to lead us to the win.”
Stillman also highlighted the first-place finish of Lauren Placer in the 100 hurdles, calling her time of 18.8 the “best 100 hurdle race of her career.”
“It was our last home meet for our seniors — Huber, Bednez, Mikayla Bond and Lydia Pompa and we wish them well in the years ahead.”
Bradford is back on the track Friday at the Altoona Invitational.
