Port A man denied bail for alleged assault
A Port Allegany man was denied bail after a Thursday arraignment on allegations including stalking and trespassing.
Christopher Robert Ballway, 29, of 208 E. Arnold Ave., is charged with stalking, a first-degree misdemeanor; defiant trespass and loitering and prowling at night, third-degree misdemeanors; harassment and criminal trespass, summary offenses.
According to the criminal complaint, early Monday morning, police were called to a residence in Port Allegany by a woman who said when she arrived home, Ballway was on her porch, attempting to unscrew the lightbulb from her porch light. When he saw the woman’s vehicle pull into the driveway, he fled the area. He left several items on her porch as well, the complaint read.
The victim told police Ballway had assaulted her in December, and earlier this month, had vandalized her car, the complaint alleged.
He was arraigned on these charges Thursday by District Judge Bill Todd and remanded to jail without bail, as this alleged incident was in violation of his prior bail conditions for the previous incidents.
He is scheduled for a preliminary hearing before Todd at 9 a.m. May 6. He is represented by attorney Brian Manchester from Bellefonte.
