EMPORIUM — On May 18 — Armed Forces Day — the holiday will be marked with a rededication of the World War I Monument in Emporium and an open house at the American Legion and Vets Club.
Ceremonies will be held starting at 11 a.m. May 18 on the Cameron County Courthouse lawn, which is where the monument is located.
It’s been 90 years since this monument was first erected, and it has been re-erected thanks to community support.
Afterward, all community members and visitors are invited to come to the American Legion Post at the Vets Club to enjoy the hospitality of food, drink and camaraderie.
