An Amherst, N.Y., woman faces charges of DUI and leaving the scene of an accident after allegedly striking two vehicles on U.S. Route 219 in Ridgway last week.
Heidi Stahlnecker, 45, was charged following an incident at 9:12 p.m. April 11 along 219 just north of the Royal Motel near Mapleview Drive, according to a criminal complaint filed with District Judge James Martin in Johnsonburg.
Ridgway-based state police said a gray Honda Civic driven by Stahlnecker was traveling north on Route 219 when it traveled into the opposing traffic lane, and the left front of the car struck the left front end of a southbound car. Police said Stahlnecker’s car then traveled back toward the northbound lane and struck the passenger side of a sport-utility vehicle.
Both other vehicles stopped, but Stahlnecker did not, police said. Johnsonburg Police stopped her car in the borough, and observed fresh damage to the car which matched damage from the crash.
Stahlnecker was transported by state police to Penn Highlands Elk to have blood drawn for a blood alcohol content test. The results were not available as of Thursday.
Stahlnecker is the former executive director of Alcohol & Drug Abuse Services Inc., and served as the single-county authority of drug and alcohol treatment services for Cameron, Elk and McKean counties from 2014 to 2015.
She is charged with DUI, accidents involving personal injury, a first-degree misdemeanor; accidents involving damage to an attended vehicle, a third-degree misdemeanor; and several traffic summary offenses.
She was arraigned before Martin on April 12 and released on $5,000 unsecured bail. A preliminary hearing in the case is set for 3 p.m. May 1.
