NEWS: Sometimes history catches up with the news, and the results leave us scratching our heads.
A few people called Wednesday to point out the “50 years ago” in Another Era on page 7 read: “Things are looking good for construction of a new post office building in downtown Bradford.”
And then Wednesday morning, a vehicle drove into the front of the Bradford Post Office.
We can assure you, we are not omniscient. It was merely a strange coincidence.
We’re glad no one was hurt in the accident.

EASTER: Local RTS fan Joy Pascarella has penned a poem to wish folks a happy Easter.
Easter bonnet and Sunday best
In soft pastel colors, appropriately dressed.
Easter lilies in full bloom
Brighten up any room
Baskets filled with plenty of treats,
Chocolate bunnies and jelly beans, lots to eat.
Hunting for hidden eggs is a lot of fun,
Happy surprises for everyone.
Dinner on the table before nightfall
Happy Easter to one and all.

HAM: We were curious about some holiday traditions, so we researched why ham is a traditional dish for Easter.
The tradition of an Easter ham came about from necessity. Meat was slaughtered in the fall and there was no refrigeration, so fresh pork was cured for spring.
The curing process took a long time, and the meat was ready at about Easter time.
So ham was served for the simple reason that it was in season.
