EMPORIUM — Otto-Eldred escaped Cameron County with its perfect record still intact with a 7-5 win in extra innings Thursday afternoon.
The Lady Terrors (8-0, 5-0 Northern Allegheny League) jumped out to a 4-2 lead after three innings before Cameron Co. (3-3, 3-1) plated a pair of runs in the fourth to knot the game back up. The teams went scoreless over the next three innings.
In the eighth and deciding frame, Otto-Eldred outscored the Lady Red Raiders 3-1 to secure the 7-5 victory.
“It was two evenly matched teams, and it was just a good game,” said Lady Terrors coach Roger Veilleux.
Otto-Eldred benefitted from a strong performance by pitcher Abby Wolfe. The freshman pitched a complete game, struck out 10 and walked none and allowed 10 hits in her eighth consecutive start.
However, errors in the field allowed the Lady Red Raiders back into the game.
“They scored two in the fourth and capitalized on a couple errors,” Veilleux said.
But the Lady Terrors capitalized on a pair of mistakes in the eighth frame to secure the win.
A leadoff walk and an error allowed two Otto-Eldred runners to reach base to start the inning, and then Haylee Frederick singled the runners in for a 6-4 advantage. Britney Greeley later scored Frederick on a sacrifice to put the Lady Terrors up 7-4.
“We got them back with aggressive baserunning in the bottom of the eighth,” Veilleux said.
Laila Smith clubbed a solo homerun to draw Cameron Co. back to within two runs, but Wolfe recovered and slammed the door on the Lady Red Raiders.
Gabby Nickerson finished 2-4 with one RBI for Otto-Eldred, and Wolfe added a 2-run double on the day. Emmalee Sheeler tacked on a pair of singles for the Lady Terrors.
For Cameron Co., Alyvia McKimm blasted a solo homerun in the first inning, and Smith added a 3-for-4 performance with her homerun and a double. She added a complete game on the mound, and gave up seven hits, three walks and struck out 10.
Otto-Eldred hosts Sheffield today, and Cameron Co. visits Smethport on Tuesday.

Clearfield 15, Bradford 2, 5 innings
CLEARFIELD — An 11-run fourth inning lifted Clearfield over Bradford 15-2 on Thursday.
The game was knotted at 1-1 after the first inning. Bradford leadoff batter Mackenzee Maley drew a walk to begin the game, and then stole both second and third to get into scoring position. Adrienne Angell then drove her in on a groundout to second.
Clearfield responded with a run of its own, and then added three more in the bottom of the third to take a 4-1 lead.
Bradford (0-6) responded with another run in the top of the fourth. Angell drew a leadoff walk, and then Emily Warner singled to put Angell into scoring position.
Angell then stole both third and home to give Bradford its second run on the day.
