A Smethport woman is in McKean County Jail on allegations she assaulted a nurse at Bradford Regional Medical Center.
Leslie D. Billyard, 41, of Smethport, is in McKean County Jail in lieu of $30,000 bail.
She was arraigned early Monday morning before District Judge Richard Luther on charges of aggravated assault, a second-degree felony; terroristic threats, a first-degree misdemeanor; simple assault, a second-degree misdemeanor; disorderly conduct, a third-degree misdemeanor; and summary public drunkenness.
According to the criminal complaint, on Sunday, Priority Care Ambulance Service transported Billyard, who was intoxicated and had been faking seizures all day, from Smethport to BRMC.
Shortly after being taken to a room, Billyard punched an emergency room nurse in the back of the head while a doctor was trying to treat her, court records stated.
Billyard then left the emergency room, and people in the hospital were looking for her at the time that Bradford City Police arrived. She was found a short time later on a bench outside the hospital emergency room entrance.
A police officer escorted emergency room staff outside to try to offer medical care to Billyard; she started talking to them, then “became verbally combative and began threatening the emergency room personnel in the area,” the complaint stated.
Court records indicated that when Billyard was being placed under arrest, she started to pull away from the officer and was put on the ground to be secured; however, she continued to pull away, swear and yell, and the officer and a security guard worked together to handcuff her as she yelled.
Through further investigation, officers determined that Billyard was not having seizures, had been medically cleared and is not welcome back inside BRMC, the complaint stated. She told police that she punched the nurse “because she did not like her response to having seizures.”
She is scheduled to appear in Central Court on Thursday.
Bradford man accused of stealing car
A Bradford man was arrested over the weekend after being accused of stealing a pick-up truck.
Bradley J. Locke, 45, of Bradford, was arraigned before District Judge Richard Luther on charges of theft by unlawful taking, a third-degree felony; unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, a second-degree misdemeanor; and driving without a license, a summary charge.
Court records indicate that on Saturday, a woman reported that Locke, while “highly intoxicated,” stole her 2004 Ford F-150 pick-up truck. He allegedly did not have a valid driver’s license, too.
A Foster Township police officer spotted a truck that matched the description of the stolen vehicle turn from Bolivar Drive onto East Main Street, then pull into Americas Best Value Inn at 920 E. Main St. The officer conducted a traffic stop at the motel; however, Locke got out of the truck and started walking through the parking lot in the direction of the motel’s main lobby.
The officer arrested him, the criminal complaint stated.
When the officer told Locke he had been stopped for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and possibly DUI, Locke replied that he was just getting a hotel room for the night because he had an argument with the alleged victim. He said he did not know he did not have permission to drive the truck, according to the complaint.
Court records stated that when the officer asked how much alcohol Locke had to drink, he said he had a few drinks and agreed that he probably was intoxicated. Locke voluntarily submitted to a blood draw at Bradford Regional Medical Center, and police are awaiting lab results before possibly filing DUI charges against Locke.
Locke was released on $20,000 unsecured bail, and he is scheduled to appear in Central Court on Thursday.
