ALTOONA — Senior Mike Bosworth placed in four events and scored 23 points to lead the Bradford boys track team to a third place finish at the Altoona Igloo Invite on Saturday.
Bosworth and the Owls were going against a competitive field of 20 schools, and the sprinter placed second in the 400 (52.56), third in the 200 (23.82) and ran on the second place 4×400 relay (3:39.67) with Tyler Kraft, Alex Liners, and Jake Pattison.
He also teamed up with Nik Erickson, Jake Pattison, Donny Pattison to place eighth in the 4×100 relay (46.12).
“Mike had a great day and his extra work is really paying off,” BAHS head coach Tom Tessena said. “Junior Tyler Kraft was a standout as well; He ran great in that 45×400 but he posted a personal best in the 1600 (4:58.51) and finished fourth in the 800 (2:10.28). Tyler is stepping up and really leading this team.”
Sophomore Alex Liners also two good races for Bradford. In addition to the 4×400 relay, he placed fourth in the 300 intermediate hurdles (43.86).
Senior Steve Kellam then placed second in the pole vault (12-6) and seventh in the long jump (19-5.75) — both resulting in personal bests.
Junior DaeMone Patterson also fared well Saturday, tying for second in the high jump (6-0), third in the 110 high hurdles (16.40), finished in 46.42 in the 300 intermediate hurdles and made the finals in the triple jump and placed ninth (39-9.5).
No one made a bigger impression on the team today then junior DaeMone,” Tessena said. “DaeMone was out last year but is making up for lost time. He is just going to get better if he works this year.”
Rounding out the Bradford sprints were Donny Pattison (eighth, 100, 11.88; 200, 24.45) Jake Pattison (400, 57.66), Jerid Wilmoth (1600, 5:05.44; 800, 2:16.76; 400 relay, 56.0 leg).
“That is a pretty nice start to your high school track career,” Tessena said of Wilmoth. Sophomores Gabe Mitchell and Steve Morgan ran well in the 4×800 with seniors David Allen and Hunter Fox. Then they had personal bests in the 3200 (11:09) and 1600 (5:19.14), respectively. Fox also ran the 3200(11:37) while Allen ran a leg on the #2 4×100 relay (57.4). Senior Nik Erickson ran on the 4×100 team and also did the 100 (12.42) in his debut track meet. Junior Owen Kane ran in the 100 (12.50) and 200 (25.42), Ethan Hollamby ran the 110M high hurdles (21.10 and the #2 4×400 relay, Aiden Wright ran the 3200 (11:47) for a personal best. Freshman Dalton Dixon ran the 400M(59.0) and did the long jump(17’3.5). Elsewhere in the field, Nate Blauser placed 10th in the triple jump (39-3) and also threw the javelin(106-9) and long jumped(17-10).
Gavin McGee did the high jump(5-4) and the triple jump(36-5.5). Sophomore Ryan Hughes did all three throws (Shot, 35’2”); Discus, 96’9 and the javelin, 105-3). Josh Mackey and Kyle Hartman threw the shot put (39-0 and 30-9, respectively). Frank Colosimo pole vaulted a personal best(10-6) and Ian Paterniti jumped 10-0.
“Overall is wasn’t a bad showing but we did lose two more guys due to injuries,” Tessena said. “I think we are down to one healthy hurdler from our top three and we are growing short of long jumpers and 400M runners.”
“We have no time to feel sorry for ourselves as we travel to St.Marys to take on the Dutch along with Kane. Both of these teams have some outstanding athletes that won medals at the State Meet last year.”
