McKean County’s libraries are taking part in National Library Week April 7-13. Here’s what they’re doing:
Bradford Area Public Library
Week long events include:
• Food for fine$
• Raffle for those who sign up for a new library card
• Table in lobby with games and contests
• Book display for Child Abuse Awareness Month
Day Specific Events:
• Monday, April 8 and Friday, April 12 — Morning storytime at 11 a.m. — Guest reader from the United Way, library-themed story and craft
• Wednesday, April 10 — Art Club at 4 p.m., registration required
• Wednesday, April 10 — Evening storytime and CARE for Children Best Baby Playgroup at 6 p.m.
• Wednesday, April 10 — Author Jeff Zentner at Harriett B. Wick Chapel, The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford, 6:30 to 8 p.m., book signing to follow
• Saturday, April 13 — No Rules Book Club at 10:30 a.m., discussing “The Library Book” by Susan Orlean
• Saturday April 13 — Team Trivia at 3 p.m., registration required
Friends’ Memorial Public Library in Kane

• Stamp up Your Library — Donate postage stamps to help the library defer costs
Day Specific Events:
• Saturday, April 6 — Building Fun(d) 5K Run/Walk and Kid’s Fun Run — 5K Run starts at 9 a.m., 5K Walk at 9:15 a.m., Kids Fun Run at 10 a.m., registration at 8 a.m., $25 for 5K Run/Walk, $5 for Kids Fun Run
• Monday, April 8 — Chalk the Walk — Write happy notes about the library, books or authors in chalk on library sidewalks
• Tuesday, April 9 — National Library Workers Day — Library Board is closing the library at 6 p.m. for library staff appreciation event
• Wednesday, April 10 — PA One Book Story Hour at 10 a.m. with volunteers from United Way of the Bradford Area Inc.
• Thursday, April 11 — Young Adult Book Tasting — “book tasting” for adults and students in grades 5-12
• Friday, April 12 — Patron Appreciation Day — Stop by the library for free beverages and snacks
