An Eldred man is in McKean County Jail after allegedly assaulting a man with a hammer.
Thomas W. Pritt, 36, of 1608 Route 446, Eldred, was arraigned Sunday night before District Judge William Todd on charges of aggravated assault, a second-degree felony; terroristic threats, a first-degree misdemeanor; simple assault and recklessly endangering another person, second-degree misdemeanors; disorderly conduct, a third-degree misdemeanor; and harassment, a summary.
The criminal complaint states that at 8:51 a.m. Sunday, Lewis Run-based state police were dispatched to a report of an assault that occurred between 1 and 4:30 a.m. that day. Christopher Barber told police that he and Pritt got into a physical altercation, during which time Pritt and Alicia Stuckey allegedly struck Barber.
Unhappy about the outcome of the altercation, Barber messaged Pritt and told him to meet him for a fight on Pine Grove Road, Liberty Township, according to the complaint. When Barber arrived around 4:30 a.m., Pritt and Stuckey were already on scene.
Barber put his car in park, and Pritt opened the vehicle door and hit Barber’s hand — which was on the steering wheel — with a hammer, the complaint stated. Pritt told him Barber he was going to kill him and began to swing the hammer at him, allegedly striking Barber about eight times before he stopped. Barber could not exit the vehicle during the alleged assault.
Court records indicate Barber suffered injuries to his left hand, the back of his head and his left thigh. Barber was transported to Olean (N.Y.) General Hospital for treatment of scalpel lacerations and a minor concussion. Two staples were put in the back of his head to hold the laceration together.
Police did not indicate that any charges would be filed against Stuckey.
Pritt is incarcerated in lieu of $20,000 bail, and he is scheduled to appear in Central Court on Thursday.
