CLEARFIELD — The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is alerting area drivers that a roadway improvement project on Route 255 in Elk County will get started on Wednesday.
The work zone stretches from just outside of Johnsonburg to the city limits of St Marys near the old roadside rest area. Initial work will feature tree trimming in preparation for other work.
Through mid-August, overall work will include base repairs, roadway resurfacing, guide rail upgrades, and drainage improvements.
Beginning Wednesday, traffic will be limited to an alternating traffic pattern controlled by flaggers. Drivers should anticipate short delays. Motorists are advised to watch for slow moving and stopped vehicles when approaching the work zone. All work is weather dependent.
IA Construction Corp. of Franklin is the contractor for this $4 million project.
