To some, having cats and dogs is like having children.
At the McKean County SPCA, many of their “children” have been finding homes this year with help from a feline promotion.
Abby Williams, with the SPCA, said there have been a lot of cat adoptions –– especially this month thanks to a promotion where felines 2 years old and under are $25 and cats 3 year old and over are free.
She added that the shelter has not taken in many cats this year but anticipates more cats being taken in during the warmer months.
Williams recommends those who are debating adopting a cat to learn as much about what cats they are choosing from, as some cats do not bond well with other animals.
The SPCA’s Zach Henze said dog adoptions have been going well this year too, and said the shelter currently has 32 dogs.
He added that the shelter is “pretty well stocked” on supplies but said the shelter could use different types of dog treats. Heze said the shelter has a large supply of Milk-Bone treats but explained that some dogs do not like them and, therefore, do not receive a treat as the shelter is low on other types of treats.
