A Kane man is in McKean County Jail for allegedly choking a woman at a Kane residence.
Roy Rockwell, 44, of 518 Hacker St., is charged with strangulation, a second-degree felony; simple assault, a second-degree misdemeanor; and harassment, a summary offense.
According to court records, early Friday morning, Lewis Run-based state police were dispatched to a domestic dispute at the Hacker Street residence. Troopers said Rockwell had been arguing with a female when he grabbed her by the throat, making it hard to breathe, hit her in the head several times, knocking off her glasses, and grabbed her hair and threw her to the ground.
Rockwell was arraigned before on-call District Judge Dom Cercone and remanded to jail in lieu of $20,000 bail. He is scheduled to appear in Central Court on Thursday.
