A boy was injured when he was struck by a pick-up truck Monday morning along Interstate Parkway.
It appeared the boy’s left ankle was injured in the accident, police stated.
The incident report from Bradford City Police lists the location of the accident as 116 Interstate Parkway — the location of Bradford Regional Medical Center — which is directly across the street from Bradford Area High School.
The boy’s name and age were not released, but the police report indicated that he was on his way to school.
According to the report, at 7:59 a.m. Monday, a Bradford City police officer was driving a marked patrol car south on Interstate Parkway, when the officer witnessed a boy run in front of a pick-up truck that was traveling north on Interstate Parkway.
Eric Jennings, 33, of 1020 W. Washington St., was driving a 2019 Ford F-150 XLT belonging to Ean Holdings LLC of Tulsa, Okla., police reported.
The officer activated his car’s overhead lights and blocked southbound traffic. He identified the people involved and contacted the McKean County 911 Center to dispatch EMS.
“The child did admit to running out in front of the truck because he was late to school and didn’t check to see if anything was coming,” the report stated.
The truck was not damaged, according to police.
The officer reported that video from his dash cam was not clear enough to show the boy running into traffic, but the officer himself witnessed it. Police were cleared from the scene at 8:30 a.m.
Police did not indicate that charges would be filed.
Bradford Area School District officials declined to comment further.
