Say it ain’t snow –– except locals are getting their wish this time, thanks to an expected dry spell in the weather.
When contacted, meteorologist John Banghoff with the National Weather Service in State College said, “It doesn’t look like there’s much snow to speak of.
“Really, for the next seven to 10 days, it doesn’t look like there’s much snow to speak of,” Banghoff said. “We could see some scattered snow showers (today), but it looks like there’s no major snowfall forecasted” for the following week or more.
The meteorologist said that snow or ice isn’t expected to make much of an impact on the area, but today will be a bit windy.
“About an inch or so of snow is expected, just some lake effect snow,” he said. “It will be windy (today) during the day sustained at 10 to 20 miles per hour.”
The cold weather is expected to stay away for a while with warmer, more mild weather expected to make an appearance.
Banghoff added, “The trend is gonna be a slow warm-up into next week, it looks like a gradual warming. The big story this week is that it’s not supposed to be super wet.
“We’ll see a dry spell after several months of wet weather.”
With warm, dry weather comes the risk of wildfire.
“There has been a little increase of fire concerns at this point,” Banghoff continued. “With temperatures warming up, we would expect fire to be a concern for some areas.”
