A Bradford man accused of running away from police officers who were trying to arrest him is in McKean County Jail.
Bradford City Police report that at 3:15 p.m. Friday, officers tried to stop and arrest Kevin A. Armstrong, 33, on East Avenue in Bradford because there was an active arrest warrant for him from the McKean County Sheriff’s Department.
He refused to stop, prompting a foot pursuit across East Main Street, police stated.
“Officers were able to set up a perimeter between East Main St. and the Tunungwant Creek, which was flowing at a fast rate with raised waters,” a press release from police stated. “Armstrong ran along the creek through wooded area and into parts of the creek at times” as he fled from officers.
Officers closed in on Armstrong, but he continued to disobey police commands, so officers had to use physical force to take him into custody, police reported.
Police said Armstrong will be charged with flight to avoid apprehension and resisting arrest, both misdemeanors. Armstrong was jailed on the McKean County warrant, as well as an arrest warrant out of Erie County.
It is unclear what the arrest warrant out of Erie is for.
In McKean County, Armstrong failed to show up for a rule to show cause hearing on Feb. 20 in the Court of Common Pleas.
Court records indicate he has failed to complete payments related to five criminal cases in McKean County. Court costs, fees and fines that he owes totaling $978.64, according to calculations by The Era. The highest amount he owes, according to court records, is $633.05 in a single case, while the lowest is $3.74.
He entered guilty pleas in the cases between 2011 and 2014.
