Charges against a man accused in a truck arson were bound to McKean County Court at a preliminary hearing Wednesday before District Judge Richard Luther.
James S. Hammond Jr., 39, of Somerset, is charged with arson, a first-degree felony; risking catastrophe, criminal mischief and receiving stolen property, all third-degree felonies.
According to the criminal complaint, on the evening of June 29, Hammond and James E. Bunce Sr., 32, set fire to a pickup truck on Songbird Road in Bradford Township. The men then walked through the woods to the Kwik Fill on South Avenue, where someone picked them up in a vehicle.
Bunce has asked for a jury trial for the arson charges against him.
The truck, which was reported stolen from another county, was allegedly used as the getaway vehicle for a burglary on June 28. Bunce, Hammond and a third man are facing charges in the alleged burglary.
Hammond is incarcerated in lieu of $100,000 bail in the arson case.
