KANE — The Kane Area Logging Safety Committee announces its plans for celebrating 51 years of logging safety with the annual safety meeting — the longest running meeting of its kind in the nation.
The meeting will be held on April 2 at the Johnsonburg Fire Hall in Johnsonburg.
The spring safety meeting will include a full day of events, and full-day participants will receive four hours of SFI continuing education credits, for an administration fee of $20, payable to PA SFI. The SFI Class will be held from 1:30 to 4 p.m.
Thad Taylor of Agchoice Farm Credit will give a presentation titled “Bankability,” and Clarion Small Business Institute will give a presentation titled “Strategic Business Planning.” Participants are asked to pre-register for the class.
This year’s evening presentation will be titled “What Does Respect Look Like?” The evening meeting will begin at 6:15 p.m. It will be an overview of the scenarios that happen on a daily basis between loggers, foresters and land owners. Organizers hope to provide insight on how to better communicate these situations and make the best of them.
As always, there will be vendors with logging safety equipment displays as well as other informational displays.
A complimentary dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m.
