SMETHPORT — A Bradford man accused of threatening to burn down a home in June has been found guilty.
A jury found Christopher L. Ausherman, 50, guilty of terroristic threats and simple assault by physical menace Monday in McKean County Court, said District Attorney Stephanie Vettenburg-Shaffer. It was a one-day trial.
“On June 24, 2018, Sgt. Ray Douglas of the Bradford City Police Department responded to a call within the City,” said Shaffer. “He was assisted on scene by other officers from Bradford City and Bradford Township.”
Shaffer prosecuted the case on behalf of the Commonwealth, and attorney Stephanie Smith represented Ausherman.
He will be sentenced March 28.
Court documents filed at the time he was first charged said he was accused of throwing an end table at a woman and threatening to burn down the house with her and her dog inside. When police arrived, they found Ausherman intoxicated with a lighter in his hand.
