EMPORIUM — An 81-year-old Emporium man was struck by a pickup truck and killed on Fourth Street in Emporium Borough at 2 p.m. Sunday.

Emporium-based state police said Robert Herbstritt was pronounced dead at the scene by the Cameron County coroner.

Police said a 2003 Dodge 2500 pickup truck driven by James Ramey of Springville was traveling east on Fourth Street when, in the area of Spruce Street, the truck struck Herbstritt, who was walking across the street.

Police said the investigation is continuing.

Assisting at the scene were Emporium EMS, fire department and the Troop F CARS (accident reconstruction) unit.
