PUNXSUTAWNEY — Ethan Blose scored 16 points and Dylan Byers poured in 14 to key Punxsutawney’s 62-58 defeat of Bradford in a D9 League game Friday.
The loss sent the Owls (9-12, 2-7) to their fourth consecutive defeat.
Leading Bradford were Caleb Nuzzo with 16 points and Tyler Gigliotti with 12 points, while Donny Pattison scored seven points and added nine rebounds. Nuzzo also had six rebounds and five assists for the night.
“In the second quarter, we just struggled again for whatever reason. We gave up 21 points to Punxsy (in that quarter). We also sent them to the foul line too much, and they went 20-28 from there,” said Brian Hobbs, Bradford coach.
Bradford outscored Punxsy 37-28 in the second half, but just couldn’t erase a 13-point halftime deficit.
“Nuzzo did a real good job in the third quarter and Gigs did good in the fourth. It was just too late. With another minute and a half, we would have had them. We ran out of timeouts and struggled to get our composure.”
Punxsutawney (10-12, 3-7) avenged a 56-44 loss to the Owls earlier in the season.
Bradford concludes its regular season on Monday at home against St. Marys.
