The Community Blood Bank is holding a blood drive from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at New Life Fellowship, 50 Sullivan Road, Bradford.
Donate blood and be entered to win a trip for two people to Las Vegas. The package includes airfare and a two-night hotel stay — at a hotel of the winner’s choosing — for two people (up to a $2,500 value, must be at least 21 years old to win). People will be automatically entered to win when they donate in the months of February and March.
The Community Blood Bank is also currently experiencing a shortage of Type O- and O+ blood types.
The Community Blood Bank is the blood supplier to 20 hospitals and six Stat MedEvac bases throughout Northwestern PA and Western NY.
Individuals are eligible to give blood if it has been 56 days since their last donation; they are at least 17 years of age (16 with parental consent); weigh at least 110 pounds; have not received a tattoo or body piercing in the past 12 months; are in good general health and do not have a cold or the flu. They must have a valid photo ID in order to donate. Prior to donating, those giving blood should eat a good, solid meal and drink at least 18 ounces of water.
