Bosworth and Kellam lead Bradford boys track
EDINBORO — Seniors Mike Bosworth and Steve Kellam had strong efforts at Edinboro Saturday to lead the boys track team.
Bosworth placed sixth in the 400 meters in 53.04 while Steve took fifth place in the pole vault with a leap of 12ft .5 inches. The two runners qualified for next week’s Tri-State Coaches Championship Meet that will also be held at Edinboro University.
“Both Mike and Steve missed last weeks meet so it was good to see them come back with strong performances,” Bradford boys track coach Tom Tessena said.
Meanwhile, sophomore Ryan Cottillion had a personal best of 5’5” in the high jump to place eighth. Cottillion also posted his best time at this facility in the mile with a 5:13.31.
“Ryan has hit the qualifying mark but must wait to see if he makes the top 18,” Tessena said. “He will also be a member of the 4×800 relay team if we make that event. We have run the time but must wait and see if we got the place we needed just as Ryan’s position in the high jump. Senior Josh Mackey placed 11th in the shot put with a personal best of 37’11”.
“Josh has really been improving in practice where he has been throwing in the 40-foot range,” Tessena said.
Sophomore Ian Paterniti hit a personal best of 9’.5” in the pole vault for 20th place, while fellow sophomore Gabe Mitchell placed 21st in the 3000 meters with a personal best of 10:23.63. “Gabe improved over 20 seconds from his previous best. He also missed last week’s meet so this was a good effort for him today,” Tessena added.
Sophomore Devin Benson improved his time in the 400 meters with a time of 60.23.
“We showed a much better attitude today than previous meets and the guys that were here made good progress,” Tessena concluded. “We will have between 5 and 9 guys qualified for the championship meet.”
Previously Jaron Ambrose had qualified in both the 60 meter high hurdles and the high jump.
